Course Overview
The Learner will gain relevant knowledge, skill and competence to participate in the workplace. The Learner will learn the basic rights and responsibilities of employees and employers to include equality, pay, health, safety and welfare at work. The Learner will learn to compile a CV, letter of application, evidence of job finding skills, statement of learning goals and contractual arrangements. The Learner will participate in work experience which will include good timekeeping, meeting deadlines and personal presentation to name but a few.

Course Overview
This module will equip the Learner with the knowledge, skill and competence required for employment in a social care setting. It will introduce Learners to the area of sociology and social studies and to develop their understanding and awareness of social issues in their own lives and society in general. Learners will examine the area of social stratifications in Irish society and describe how this society can be divided into different social strata ie. class, gender, race/ethnicity. They will explore the role and function of the family as a social unit and the changes that have taken place in the family within Ireland.

Course Overview
These two modules will be run in conjunction with each other. The Personal Effectiveness module will equip the Learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to apply a range of personal learning skills in a variety of personal, civil and vocational contexts. The Learner will reflect on their own personal role in their work place to include strengths and weaknesses, issues and work practices which influence how they do their work. The Team Working module will equip the Learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to work as an effective team member. They will learn to analyse roles and responsibilities of team members, including leaders and trainers.

Sharon, Michelle and Sandra attended the NCCWN re-launch at the Ashling Hotel in Dublin on February 3rd, along with board members Melanie and Anne. Tanaiste Frances Fitzgerald, Minister for Justice & Equality, launched the NCCWN with a candle lighting ceremony symbolising the connection between the NCCWN and its 17 member projects nationwide. Along with the Tanaiste, guest speakers on the day included:
There was a showing of Emmet Kirwan’s short film, Heartbreak, before a live performance of Tracy Ryan’s play, ‘Rise’. Finishing off this inspirational and empowering event, was live music from Laura Mulcahy and Sarah Ferrigan, including a rendition of Women’s March anthem ‘I Can’t Keep Quiet‘, during which they encouraged the attendees to sing along.
