QQI LEVEL 5 PROGRAMME

SWAN continues to work with Dublin Dun Laoghaire Education Training Board (DDLETB) to provide level 5 modules which when combined will lead to a QQI major award.

We are starting three new modules in September 2019:

Level 5 Young People and Society-Back to Education Initiative BTEI

Course Overview

This module will equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to develop critical awareness of the nature of youth in contemporary society to explore and analyse the position of young people in Irish society and examine societal responses to their issues and concerns. You will be able to summarise factors which shape youth culture, globally and locally, to include media, marketing and socialisation.

Level 5 Substance Use : Issues for Youth Work Back to Education Initiative BTEI

Course Overview

You will be equipped with the knowledge, skill and competence to work safely and effectively as part of a team, engaging with young people and communities who are negatively affected by substance use, in young people and community work setting. You will be able to identify the different types/categories/effects/symptoms/  and legal status of a range of substances and outline some theories of dependency / addiction and it’s effects on the individual / family / community / wider society.

Course Overview

The Learner will be equipped with the knowledge, skill and competence to explore, reflect and analyse intercultural issues such as diversity, racism, prejudice. conflict, inclusion, participation and inter-independence while also reflecting on their own culture. It provides learners with an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skill necessary for active, positive participation in a complex, diverse and rapidly changing society.
